The Backyard Universe offers multicultural night sky tours with laser pointer and large telescope on the Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia. Enjoy an evening of traditional stargazing and modern astronomy in a small group tour with an experienced local guide. One of a handful of night sky tours anywhere that includes non-Western and southern hemisphere indigenous night sky interpretations. The Backyard Universe also do customised astronomy and geology activity and tour packages for conferences, private groups and school camps. All equipment is portable so tours can be run at your venue (if you have a suitable location). They also run door-to-door shuttle bus services for the southern Heysen Trail, Wild South Coast Way and southern Fleurieu Peninsula, including transfers to and from Adelaide airport and the Kangaroo Island ferries.Tours

Wirrina Coastline Walk

A three to four hour guided walk featuring a historic cave, a prehistoric beach, an upside-down cliff, over 1700 million years of geology, the Tjilbruke story and a spectacular western Fleurieu coastline at low tide. You must have sturdy enclosed footwear to do this walk because some of it requires walking across rough rocks and boulders. No thongs, sandals, crocs, flats, moccasins, high heels or bare feet. Moderate agility is required for this tour. The natural terrain they walk over is unsuitable for prams, wheelchairs or anyone with mobility or balance problems. Young children may need to be carried by parents. Tour runs on demand but is subject to their availability, and favourable tide and weather conditions. What to bring: camera, sturdy and enclosed shoes, water, sunscreen, hat and sunglasses, and clothing appropriate for weather forecast.

Heysen Trail & Wild South Coast Way minibus transfers

We offer two types of minibus shuttle service for the southern Heysen Trail & Wild South Coast Way: -- Point to point. You go to your walk finish location, our minibus meets you there and transfers you to your walk starting location. You then walk back to your finish location. -- Accommodation to point. Our minibus picks you up from your accommodation and transfers you to your walk starting location. At a prearranged time we meet you at your walk finishing location and return you to your accommodation. Why restrict yourself to the handful of locations serviced by metropolitan taxis and big buses? Our coverage extends from the Cape Jervis trailhead to Dashwood Gully (near Meadows), using multiple locations that are spaced a half-day or full-day walk apart. Accommodation coverage includes the Fleurieu Peninsula, Victor Harbor and south coast, McLaren Vale, Glenelg, and Adelaide city. Our minibus carries 1 to 11 passengers + backpacks per trip. All trips are charged as Flat Rate.

Enjoy an evening of traditional stargazing and modern astronomy with an experienced guide; at your next event, conference or school camp. All of our equipment is portable, so if you have a suitable location at your venue, we can come to you.
