Wirrina Cove night sky tour

A multicultural tour of South Australia's night sky with laser pointer & large telescope. Enjoy an evening of traditional stargazing and modern astronomy in a small group tour with an experienced local guide. Experience a night sky that's practically as dark as the Outback but much closer to Adelaide. We are one of a handful of astronomy tours anywhere that routinely includes night sky interpretations from non-Western cultures and from southern hemisphere indigenous cultures. Operates from the BreakFree Wirrina Cove resort (formerly New Terry) throughout the year; except on nights when there's a bright moon. *** Weather Permitting *** Cloud Forecasts are not reliable more than 1 day in advance. We will send a message to the mobile phone number you supplied when booking, to tell you if your tour is cancelled or not. If your tour is cancelled, you will be offered either an alternate date (if possible) or a refund or a conversion to a Gift Voucher. The Resort is about 90 minutes drive from the centre of Adelaide, and about 20 minutes drive from the Kangaroo Island ferries. There are many other accommodation options nearby if you're not staying at the Resort.

Wirrina Coastline Walk

A 3 to 4 hour guided walk featuring a historic cave, a prehistoric beach, an upside-down cliff, over 1700 million years of geology, the Tjilbruke story and a spectacular western Fleurieu coastline at low tide. You must have sturdy enclosed footwear to do this walk because some of it requires walking across rough rocks and boulders. NO thongs, sandals, crocs, flats, moccasins, high heels or bare feet. Moderate agility is required for this tour. The natural terrain we walk over is unsuitable for prams, wheelchairs or anyone with mobility or balance problems. Young children may need to be carried by parents. Tour runs on demand but is subject to our availability, and favourable tide and weather conditions. What to bring: - camera - sturdy, enclosed shoes - water - sunscreen, hat & sunglasses - clothing appropriate for weather forecast

Heysen Trail minibus transfers

We offer two types of minibus shuttle service for the southern Heysen Trail: -- Point to point. You go to your walk finish location, our minibus meets you there and transfers you to your walk starting location. You then walk back to your finish location. -- Accommodation to point. Our minibus picks you up from your accommodation and transfers you to your walk starting location. At a prearranged time we meet you at your walk finishing location and return you to your accommodation. Why restrict yourself to the handful of locations serviced by metropolitan taxis and big buses? Our Heysen Trail coverage extends from the Cape Jervis trailhead to Dashwood Gully (near Meadows), using multiple locations that are spaced a half-day or full-day walk apart. Accommodation coverage includes the Fleurieu Peninsula, Victor Harbor and south coast, McLaren Vale, Glenelg, and Adelaide city. Our minibus carries 1 to 11 passengers + backpacks per trip. All Heysen Trail trips are charged as Flat Rate.

Night sky tours for private groups & events

Our multicultural night sky tour with laser pointer & large telescope(s) is also available for your private group. Either at Wirrina Cove, or at your venue. Enjoy an evening of traditional stargazing and modern astronomy with an experienced guide; at your next event, conference or school camp. All of our equipment is portable, so if you have a suitable location at your venue, we can come to you.
