The Festival of Nature has been re-imagined with a modified program this September.

 

Throughout the Festival

raywoodNursery FBGarden Walk

Raywood Nursery via Delamere, daily 10 am - 4 pm

Enjoy an enchanting walk through one of the oldest remaining stringybark and grass tree forests in South Australia. Picnic tables encourage you to linger. Look out for the blue wrens and scrub wrens - birdlife abounds!

The adjacent Nursery offers a large variety of Autumn colouring trees, a comprehensive range of roses and a wide selection of Australian and exotic plants. The Nursery is open Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm.

Kayak Myponga Reservoir

Experience a self-guided tour of the reservoir and create your own adventure! Your kayak will be set up and waiting on the shoreline so you can easily head out to enjoy the amazing views and wildlife.

Drop a line whilst enjoying the stunning views from your kayak - ask about fishing hire.

Guided Bird Watching Walk

Ingalalla Falls, Hay Flat, 10am - 11am

Meet at Ingalalla Falls carpark for an informal guided tour along a sheltered path to Ingalalla waterfall. Your guide will help you see, hear and understand the range of bird species that call the forest home.

Guided Orchid Walk

Nixon Skinner Conservation Park, 2pm - 3pm

A Festival favourite guided by passionate orchid lovers! A relaxed guided walk through an island of native vegetation, identifying a variety of native orchids including the rare Cherry Helmet Orchid. Warning - it's easy to become hooked on searching for these small unique Australian beauties!

Simple Astrophotography with your Camera and Tripod

Club Fleurieu, from 7:30 pm

Ever wondered how to photograph the night sky? Bring your digital camera and tripod to this practical session by the team at The Backyard Universe - an indoor presentation will be followed (weather permitting) by an outdoor tutorial. You'll be amazed how much you learn in a couple of hours!

Your camera needs to be capable of doing long exposures (10 seconds or more) at high ISO (3200 or more).

Cost: free. The Club Fleurieu bar will be open for drinks and coffee.

FRIDAY 17 SEPTEMBER

Introduction to Regenerative Farming

Deep Creek Organics, 10 am - 3 pm

Your hosts, Ben & Julianne Ryan are joined by regenerative grazing guru Dick Richardson for a fun and informative on-farm introduction to holistic land management. You'll learn about regenerative farming - what it means -  how it works - what's its purpose - who's involved.

No agricultural experience is needed, just a desire to learn and appreciate how food can be produced in a way that rehabilitates the land and the positive environmental benefits it can have.

Cost: $20 per person / $50 family (2 adults and children) includes morning tea (BYO lunch)

Southern Elders Basketweaving

Yankalilla Showgrounds, 1 pm - 4 pm

Learn traditional techniques of weaving with the opportunity to create baskets and other woven objects using raffia and other plant materials. Weaving workshops are also a great way to yarn and learn about Aboriginal culture with aunties who are very skilled at sharing their craft.

SATURDAY 18 SEPTEMBER

Low Tox Living Workshop

Fleurieu Environment Centre, 10 am - 12 noon

Learn how to create your own low tox cleaning and cosmetic products. We'll be sharing tips on how to avoid harsh chemicals and reduce single-use plastics within the home.

Moby Cape Jervis 1Lighthouse Fleurieu

Cape Jervis, 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Brought to you by our friends at Festival Fleurieu. Sweeping sea views with Kangaroo Island in the distance form an impressive backdrop as twilight meets the stars. Watch the Lighthouse come to life with a stunning storybook projection created from stories of the local community.

Bring a chair and enjoy an alfresco dinner from our food truck lineup.
