Lady Bay

Lady Bay is a quiet pocket of coastline just five kilometres south of Normanville, where old beach shacks, Norfolk pines and a long stretch of Gulf St Vincent sit against the hills of the southern Fleurieu Peninsula. Around 79 kilometres from Adelaide, it's an easy addition to a Normanville stay or a stop while travelling further south towards Second Valley, Rapid Bay and Cape Jervis.

At low tide, rocky reef is exposed along Lady Bay Beach, making it a popular spot for shore fishing, crabbing, shell collecting and exploring the shoreline. Further south, sections of sand open up between the reef for swimming. The beach is unpatrolled, so conditions should always be checked before entering the water.

Above the coast, the HMAS Hobart Memorial Lookout tells another part of Lady Bay's story. The lookout includes the anchor of HMAS Hobart II and looks towards the ship's resting place offshore, where the former naval destroyer was scuttled in 2002 and now forms an artificial reef and internationally recognised dive site.

Lady Bay is also one of the Fleurieu Peninsula's key golfing destinations. Links Lady Bay is an 18-hole championship links-style course designed by Jack Newton, Graeme Grant and John Spencer, with the adjoining resort providing accommodation, dining and sweeping coastal outlooks.

Close enough to Normanville for coffee, shops and more places to eat, Lady Bay is somewhere to slow things down: beach, golf, a coastal walk or simply a good view on the road south.
