Myponga is where rolling dairy country, reservoir views and the coast all fit comfortably into one Fleurieu Peninsula detour. Around an hour south of Adelaide, the township sits among farmland before the road winds west towards Myponga Beach.
Just outside town, Myponga Reservoir Reserve is a favourite for walking, cycling, kayaking, fishing and picnics, with trails weaving through native vegetation and open views across the water.
Back in Myponga, stop for coffee or something from the bakery, or settle in at Smiling Samoyed Brewery for locally brewed beer overlooking the reservoir. The surrounding district remains closely connected to agriculture and is home to Fleurieu Milk Company.
Then follow the road around 10–15 minutes to Myponga Beach, a small cove framed by grassy hills. The beach is popular for swimming, fishing, snorkelling and boating, with rocky reefs adding interest beneath the water.
It's a compact little corner of the Fleurieu where a reservoir walk, brewery lunch and beach stop can all happen in the same day.
