Second Valley

Second Valley is one of the Fleurieu Peninsula's most distinctive coastal stops, where steep hills narrow towards a small cove of clear water, rocky shoreline and the much-photographed Second Valley Jetty.

Around 90 minutes south of Adelaide, the beach is popular for swimming, snorkelling, scuba diving, kayaking and fishing. The eastern side of the cove has a small sandy beach, while rocky reefs and deeper water around the jetty make the area particularly popular with snorkellers and divers.

The landscape is a big part of the appeal. Rock formations, rolling hills and a sheltered cove give Second Valley a character quite different from the long sandy beaches found elsewhere on the Fleurieu. The jetty is an easy place to cast a line or simply take in the coastline, with picnic facilities and public toilets nearby.

Second Valley also sits conveniently between Normanville, Wirrina Cove and Rapid Bay, making it an easy stop on a road trip along the western Fleurieu coast or a base for exploring further south towards Cape Jervis on the way to Kangaroo Island.
